Like others have said, there are reasons why they abandoned the practice. The same reason why those who currently release captive-reared should as well.

    This says it:

But this wasn’t enough for Bell. He and his estate keeper/hatchery manager, Edward Ward, came to realize,
...we must go much deeper into the matter to have an understanding of the various phases of their lives.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

I do agree. There are many factors that come into play with conservation of any species. But you have to wonder how much success have we had in the past 80 years. If they had to release ducks then and here we are 80 years later and the same release of ducks in happening.

But you would think that other folks would have learned from the experts. I think it was Einstein that defined insanity as "doing the same thing over again, and expecting a different result" or something like that.

So why would Super Dave and his brethren across the nation repeat the same failed experiment as Delta did back in the 30's? Greed. Selfishness. Narcissism. The belief that they can do it differently and it will work this time? The benefit to waterfowl of releasing birds does not equal the risk. The diseases that are spread and the hybridizing of mottleds/blacks alone are enough for a waterfowler to say "ok, its just not worth it." But no one ever wants to admit what they are doing is wrong. At some point you got to buck up, be a man and admit it when you're wrong. But they don't care cause they're shooting ducks. And to the brainwashed men that think it's ok to release captive-reared waterfowl, that's what it's all about.

12 pages of this shit on the last 2 day of duck season???

You can rest assured that every time one of you rubberheads clicked POST, I was clicking my fucking safety...

Well managed refuges and impoundments play a vital role in returning migratory waterfowl to South Carolina every year. The bastardized versions notwithstanding.
