im sure this is old news to some, but i got these pics in an email yesterday. said the bear was 400 lbs. and killed within the last week by a motorist on 17-A in macedonia (right outside moncks corner). i am waiting on more details right now, but i thought i would share with those that havent heard/seen yet.

I have heard alot of complaints about bears in the MB area, MC seems a little far south for em but, never the less, they are wild. That's a good un.

you are right those are a friend of mines pics, he is a green jeans out of moncks corner, said a guy hit with a pickup and only put a small dent in it,last saturday. broke the bears back and a trooper shot him before green jeans could get there, a man stopped and said and showed him pics of him eating on corn pile said he has been watching him the last three years. said there is female that mated with him around three hundred pounds with a nice looking cub. best looking bear i ahve seen down that way. not one of those honey bears for sure

    ya'll know Rusty Collier?

thats a big bear man, most of the lowcountry bears are sugar bear size.

My good friend hit that bear. He was on his way to my property to deer hunt when he hit the bear. He was about 8 miles before Jamestown on 17-A.

The bear lived for about 2 minutes and died. No one shot the bear. By the time anyone showed up, the bear was already dead.

The guy that hit the bear is from NC and is a very close friend of mine. He just moved to Summerville about two months ago. There were NO shoots fired.

not calling you a liar , just stating what the game warden who responded to the call and whose truck is in the above picture told me., and the bear is at the dennis building to be mounted.

I know your not calling me a liar. But, I don't know why the GW told you that. By the time anyone showed up, the bear was already dead. Guess he felt like adding a little twist to the story. I can give you my buddies cell number if you want to ask him. Not that it's that important.

I've heard there's a larger population of bears down in the lowcountry than there are the mountains. Don't know if it's true but it makes sense. Lots of thick swampy areas for them to hide and feed in down there.

One of my Dad's neighbors stopped in on Thanksgiving just to let me know he had spotted a decent sized bear on one of his deer stands. That's probably about 6 miles as the crow flies from where this one was hit.
