impoundment costs

you guys that have impoundments, what are some ballpark numbers for building a 5 acre impoundment, I know this will be a broad figure just looking for some jumping off points

is it already a field or do you have trees and stumps to remove?

what is your water source? or are you just talking about building the dike? need pump, pipes, etc?

have to clear and grub the land but that wont be an issue cost wise. just the dike costs, possible well, planting, etc.

dike could run you up to $10,000. depends on what needs to be done. is area level? will they have to spend a couple of days getting it right? how tall will dike need to be? etc etc

well? could be up to $20k depending on what size and how deep you need to drill.
planting is cheap, in comparison.

if clearing land is not an issue, i guess you have heavy equipment?

FYI-8 acre impoundment. well was $17k. dike work was $14k. both are one time costs. planting and power bill are yearly.

thanks for the info, hopefully would be able to use fill for dike from a pond on site, so it would just be a time issue, the land is flat so there should be little grading and excavating needed to be done. im guessing biggest expense will come in the water source. as far as planting goes do you have any ideas on prices for differant crops. thanks again, your a big help
