I was in Tampa over the weekend. Cold as hell and windy. We anchored at the mouth of a Coal powered electric plant's warm water discharge. Caught some Trout, Reds, a few short Snook and some of the prettiest Pompano I have ever caught.

Yes, the Pompano were delicious..... Cooked en parchment.

Foie, there is one good thing, at least you live on the coast. It's hard to justify making a day trip to fish one tide from the midlands and getting skunked. I'm still able to enjoy them though.

I got skunked up Sunday. I found a few spottails but they were very spooky. As I was leaving the flats, I counted eight flats boats within sight. I left and went out to the rocks and tried the sheeps with cut shrimp to no avail. Nobody has fiddlers lately. I did see some fish though. It was a pretty day nonetheless.

When me and Foi went we didnt even see any fish. Thinking about chasing largemouth until it gets a bit warmer and the reds scatter and are easier to find.

I've always had better luck starting at low tide and fishing up.

the rainbow water was perfect today.....
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

freshwater has been tough too. The cold snaps keep the fish all over the place. Went to Moultrie for the heck of it Sat. Had one bite out of Blacks, but it pushed 45 Lbs. I guess one in 8 hours is a lot better than a O.

5 out of 200 is not that great of an average, but I'll take what I can get. You free on Monday?

I've caught fish all times of the year and at all tides but the last hour of the incoming and slack. Took a long time to be able to do that too. Something like 18 years in the lowcountry spending endless times in the rivers. By the way I get skunked once in a blue moon too. Happens to all of us.
