My point is the danger posed by hooks that are allowed to remain in the trees bordering the main creeks and runs in Sparkleberry. The water fluctuates more there than in the Lake and therefore, the exposed hooks pose more of a danger in the Swamp than the Lake. I believe this was the reasoning for outlawing bush lines above the bridge. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

LOL- gotcha- now i see that point..... but the one i still don't grasp is the logic applied to the various methods and equipment in the various bodies of water....

reminds me of planning a roadtrip with a map and a handful of darts

Trad, they might be a little on the "over-done" side in terms of bush hooks...but them sumbeetches work good.

By law, bush hooks are required to be pulled at dawn.

we set em at dark and check em throughout the night. Go back to the campsite, drink a few, tell some tales and check em again. I always take mine down before i leave.

dude- stepping away from that anal-retentive SOB's Uber-Rigging....

A roll of heavy twine/cord/string, ANY sort of weight (lug nuts, tire weights, etc) and a good hook are all you need. The some sort of marking method to ID them as yours and maybe a piece of reflective tape.... and

Sure, and to quote trad, if you want to do it "casual and half assed".

Get some hooks, some railroad spikes, and some twisty twine and drop dead bait in a hole, or on a flat.

I target flatheads so I drop in holes with live, "bumpy" bait.

    ***edit***

I use only non-game fish for bait. ahem.

I was bored one day, had a big spool of 200lb mono, some sleeves, some grouper hooks and I kept busy. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

I do have to stay on these though....I have had several very large flatheads break that 200lb test after a 2 hour soak.

I have no problem with bush hooks, but they need to be down come sunup. They are dangerous in the swamp and people are just lazy if they leave em up. Juggin is stupid. I have NEVER seen a tag on a bush hook!!
