You tried cause the shells you bought says it has killing power out to x number of yards and the bird was out there so witht these magic shells you tried and got lucky. But next time you will try to shoot at greater distances instead of shooting them in the lips with their feet down.

If Kent gets wet, it a crapshoot as to whether it will fire or not. I like the Hevi mostly because you can go up a few shot sizes and put sometimes double the amount of pellets in your pattern.

I shot a can and 2 mallards yesterday with Hevi #6's and they were stone cold dead. I've heard people say you can't shoot big ducks with shot that size, but I disagree.

I pay about $16/box. A little pricey but its worth it.

$16 a box sounds better then my $24 a box black clouds.

That $16 is for a box of 10 Pine Island...Like HeviShot as well, but usually stick to the HeviMetal now as it is a lot more wallet friendly.

You can get black cloud for $18 online but you have shipping $20 local for a box if you buy the case.

I killed (read dead in the air) a fully plumed black bellied whistling duck, which was about the same size as a mallard, at 50 yards with #6 steel shot out of a modified choke. It wasn't a lucky head shot because the bird had NUMEROUS pellet wounds.

Pointing the gun in the right direction means eveything.

Black Cloud shells ARE a gimmick.

c'mon now fish, it aint cool to be a good shot. Its more fun to tell the boys on the hill "the ducks were so thick, we each shot a box and half".
