    Default Arkansas Update

I spoke with a DNR guy from Arkansas this morning about the "no boats in Gov. Cypress". It is true. No boat of any kind will be allowed. His comment was that there is 15000 acres in the Meto and Gov. Cypress is only 1700 acres. If you don't want to walk in go to the other areas.

you can't even use a sled type thing to pull the deeks etc in with? I'd like to try this place, most don't like to walk to em and put that much work into it. Guess those burlap magnums wouldn't get used on one of those hunts.

Bag up a couple of dozen dekes, slog in, KILL and slog out. You'll appreciate your hunt a whole lot more and there obviously will be a lot less competition (and disturbance). Have we all gotten that soft?
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

maybe that will stay in effect for a couple of years...i'm hoping to start a somewhat annual arkie trip next duck season, and that sounds like it would be a lot easier to cut your teeth on than the metro

Most folks will not use decoys. They will kick the water and tree top the ducks when they swing their way.

Just one man's experience- there are PLENTY of walk in access points into Government Cypress (and many other areas) of Bayou Meto WMA..

    Water level is the key..

You don't need a boat to be successful - if the ducks are there.

Ive spent a good bit of time in Gov. cypress....honestly there is no need for a boat other that running up and down the ditch ! Big dike on both sides that makes it impossible to drag even if you were allowed !

It was probably more idiot wannabe renegades from Sumter who caused it to happen. History repeating itself...

This might work out good on gas ... It gets expensive towin a boat up there every year.

hopefully gas will knock down to around $1.70-$2.00/gal before we head to AR and MS this year..that would make for a nice break on the wallet
