I believe I met Cot two or three years ago on a Charleston trip, ya'll fishing out of a mckee craft?

Yep Bugs he fishes a 23 foot McKee... I met Cot on here several years ago, both being forum moderators and I have been wanting to get down and fish with him. (I figure if he can make 2th look good... I could be made to look like Papa Hemingway) Cot definitely put us on them today even though he was out of his element a bit, not having fished Charleston since last September. Too bad the Children's Hospital Tournament wasn't today...

Seas were not bad at all and the temp/wind and cloud cover was as good as we could've hoped. Cot picked up two boats worth of menhaiden in one cast and we were off. We started out by the subway cars and the water was surprisingly blue to be that near shore but the bait was a little tougher to find than expected and we ended up moving several times after a few missed strikes and a small Sara Palin.

Eventually, our patience paid off and we found several nice wads of surfacing bait. We worked the area several times only to hook a few toothy bottom dwellers, which were fun enough. We were determine, however, to impress the skeptical wives with fish on the table, so we pressed on...

Finally we really found the hot spot and landed 3 nice King's in the span of about an hour and 45 minutes. My king had to be 40 lbs and seemed like it should've been longer for how thick it was. My father-in-law caught the last one and while not the biggest, definitely gave us the biggest trouble coming damn close to spooling us.

Unfortunately, while he was fighting that last one we got a call from my wife telling us that her grandmother (Mom's mother) was in very bad shape and might not make it long enough for my in-laws to get to see her. ( I waited to tell the F-I-L until we gaffed his King)... So we called it a day, Cot handled the fish for me and I ran the in-laws to the airport.

In short, as much as I enjoy going offshore, today easily rivaled it. Thanks again Cot for a great time and my family would appreciate any prayers in this tough time for us.

Nice Job on the mercury missiles!! Crap, I have been on that very McKee 40+ miles offshore. If I remember correctly, we had about 3 cases of beer that never made the ride back home!

    hahaha.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
