You are right romeocadet, I didnt just talk to the fella thats been plantin the field for 3 years. He didnt tell me that they killed 1568 birds on opening day last year. Nor did he tell me that he planted sunflowers, corn, and millet this year and that he bulldozed some autumn olive patches and actually made some of the fields bigger and that it should be a decent first shoot.

    Let it go, dirtnap.

I know you are just kidding but if you weren't, you really wouldn't "stand out". Within the last few years it seems like it has become the norm out there. Shit, 10 years ago this behavior woulda igniated a good ole fashioned ass whoopin that started from your dove stool and ended at your truck.

I shit you not, about 7 years ago a fellow shot a low bird close enough to me that he put several holes through our styrofoam cooler. I was 17 years old at the time and this guy was at least 10 years older than me. I was trying to be "fairly" respectfull due to that. I never said anything to him when he first walked up late to the field and proceeded to plop his bucket down within 50 yds of me. Then he moved back to about 100 yds from me which was still not that far. Well, another fella showed up late on the other side of him so he initially pushes back towards me, to within 70 or so yds. 30 minutes of him skybusting and a few winged birds later is when a bird managed to slip in on us from behind and commenced to landing in the field between us....we both see it and hear it at the same time, I see him draw his gun and I start yelling LOW BIRD, LOW BIRD........ After I pick myself up off the ground and dust myself off I was amazed how I hadn't been hit. By the time I could get it together and start towards him mr. Green jeans was on the way towards him on the four wheeler. Everyone in the first field saw what just occured, on his "escorted" exit out the field he was called everything you could magine, I even learned a few new cuss words tha day.

I know the SOB was embarassed and humiliated.

This is the kinda shit that has started to become routine etiquette @ public shoots. They aren't even enjoyable anymore because you have to constantly worry about becoming a statistic
