CC squatt is right. shoot the moon in TV mode. I played around with it a while back and got some good ones at night then Idle told me about taking them in the day light and having the BG be a dark blue.

Early evening while still light outside(had a little cloud cover which caused the haze around the moon)

A couple of those late day/evening shots. Right before sundown, crank your exposure down (anywhere from -1.5 to -3.0), meter on the moon, and your sky will go dark blue.

Idle that right one is bad arse!! I tried again the other night when it was clear, and got the BG blue and a hint of blue in the moon where it was dark. I'll try to remember to post it this evening.
