Default how to put line on reel

    specific question.

i dont know why i even have the line...but i found it in my shed when i was cleaning up.

    stren sonic braid
    8lb test
    1lb diameter
    125yd spool

I want to put it on a sedona 2500(?). anyway, it says max 200yds 4lb test...maybe min 140yds 10lb? not my point.

    my point is

    suspenseful, huh?

What do I use for backing?

its only 125 yds of the braid....

or do i put it on some tiny ultralight reel? i dont like the idea....but I guess I could. I want to take a set-up like this to Canada for smallmouth and pike in july. kinda want to test it out. see if I like it in a certain set-up so when i get there I can catch the piss out of them.

in front of my bro and my dad. 70th birthday present. Canoes. Quetico Provinical Park.

    so....

mono? 20lb down to 8lb test
    or
    ???

how much of backing approx in yds? I would expect I would use all 125 yds of 1lb diameter braid, right?

    tell me

    now

    dammit

is it possible that packing the tackle box two month in advance i overkill? might make a change or two in the next 60 days.

is it also possible that packing the tackle box is about as much fun as anything on this earth?

with some exception, of course...but still....

my "s" doesnt work real good. someone fix it. sss ss ss sss

I'd just eyeball it and fill it up a little way with some 6 or 8 pound mono..maybe 20 yards but I'm just guessing..uni to uni knot for that to the braid..I use half a spool of braid per reel and I have yet to have a fish take me into my backing, but I mainly bass fish.

    yes....it could....

    20lb or or 8?

just thinking the 1lb diameter is going to want to bind in the mono. guess it doent matter...

    alright...

    work with me here.

if the reel can hold 200 yds of 4lb....it can hold....wait on the math....a shitpile more than 200 yds of 1lb, right?

ssssso i would need to put 100 yds of 8lb as backing...or more, even?

100 yds of 8 lb would be plenty IMO.

Are you sure you want to take light tackle to fish for smallies and pike? Might get yo shit took from you?

But what do I know? I just fish for Brimps wif redworms out from undaneeff da bridge.

if its a spinning reel, you don't want to fill it up anyways...fwiw. fill it 33% w/ 10 lb mono and 50% w/ the 1lb diameter braid....Tie a blood knot to join them.

and hell yeah I am taking light tackle. i am sure i will take a larger spinning rell with 20lb braid or even larger for the pike, but i will likely spend most of my time fishing for smallies with 8lb flourocarbon on light tackle. they are, hands down, the funnest fish in the world to catch....(with my apologies to a bream).

going to have to pack everything in and carry the canoes on our backs between lakes to get to where we are staying...a primitive cabin with gravity-fed cold water and propane lights. not "roughing it" per se, but having a roof and a cot to sleep on will make it a little easier on my dad....heck, and me.

    i cant wait.

    is it july yet?
