now our all knowing commander in chief (NOBAMA) thinks he can run them how he sees fit
Not to highjack, but that little nugget bothers the hell out of me. When does an elected official get to dictate, openly, who runs a private enterprise? Isnt that something the board of directors is supposed to do...legally? I think it is fishy as hell that the obama is in the back pockets of the UAW and other cancerous entities on capitalism...and then he declares the opposition to these entities must step down if they are to accept taxpayer dollars????????????????

i would say, if you are going to buy used, go to Carmax

I have a Chevy 2500 duramax w/allison tranny crew cab 4door w/4wd. I average 16 or better all around and 18 to 20 on the hwy. Pulling our goosenech horse trailer(27ft) or my Key West, I'll average around 14. I love the motor and tranny esp. in the mountains when pulling the horses. Fully loaded, the trailer probably is around 14,000lbs and the truck doesn't strain at all. My second choice would be the dodge but it's loud as heck and the milage is obscene. As far as pulling any weight, I don't trust the Toyota or Nissan. Haven't been proven yet and the one Toyota that I have seen in the mountains pulling a trailer was spewing tranny fluid.
If you were not going to pull anything, I'm sure the Toyota would be fine other than the milage and frequent stops to fill up with rice. Hahaha

chevrolet or ford would be my choice in the 1500. chevrolet in the diesel. that new dodge diesel gets atrocious mileage, still cant comprehend why they scraped the 5.9 which was probably the best diesel on the market (aside from being loud as hell).

AMEN!! I used to be unsure of the whole diesel idea and did I need it but I love my Dmax. It is a great tool to have around the farm to pull with and great ride when traveling or towing.

American autos have such a stigma of poor/cheap quality to me and many others. Plus I feel like I'd be supporting the unions the time I bought one. I have owned only one American made vehicle and it was in the shop three times within the first year I bought it.

    Toyota makes a quality product.

Used truck prices were really good the past couple months when I was looking, and I assume new for that matter. I also heard tho that both were going up pretty soon, because of a lack in production. I got a 2004 F150 Supercrew 4x4 with 22000 miles, and clean as a whistle for $15000. I love it so far.

Most people seem to be pleased with the ford, but I haven't been pleased with mine. At 63,000 miles I have had to completely replace the engine and the brakes gave on me while driving down the road. Also, when the engine went so did the starter. Mine is a 2005 XLT 4x4.

I cant say a bad thing about the Ford I owned prior to the Tundra. I was at 180k miles before the tranny started slipping.

However, the Toyota T-100, year 1992 had well over 300k miles and the only work I had to do to it was replace a worn out rear main seal, and the brakes/rotors.

I have a permenant bruise on my ass from all the kicking I do to it daily for selling it to some Mexican.

I love the fords. I've got an 06 F150 FX4, and it's been great. It's got 84000 on it and all i've done is replace the spark plugs (because I washed the engine, like an idiout, and they got wet). I had an 04 F150 with 130k on it, and it never had as much as a slack tire. You CAN get a 'lemon' in anything, though.

I have a Ford right now. It's a 2000 model with 180k miles on it. I have replaced the radiator due to a stick, one of the front hubs and the alternator. It still has the original plugs and wires. I have kept the oil changed in it every 5000 miles or so since the book says to change it every 7500... I split the difference. It acts sometimes like the transmisson slips a little... or it's changing gears weird. It only does it between 1st and 2nd and that is rare but it has done it a few times. It might just need the fluid and filter changed. I bought the Ranger since I coon hunted in the swamp and the last full size truck I had was beat all to hell and back down in the swamp after 1 season. It's been a good truck. It has the 4.0 motor and 4x4 extended cab. I hate to get rid of it because it has treated me so well but it's going to have to go if I move to Tennessee. I can't see pulling my stuff up through the mountains with it and I could use more room. I can't knock the Fords at all. I had a Chevy Z71 in 97 that the motor and transmission went out in with less than 50,000 miles on it and I never really took it off the road. That keeps coming up in my head when I look at the Chevys. I wish I would have kept the 2006 Chevy 4x4 I had but I couldn't see keeping it since I changed jobs and only drove 10 miles to work every 3rd day. I only bought it to drive to work. It was a good truck the year I had it.

The bad part about getting a new truck it getting rid of the one I have now. Even with the book value at 5500 I probably can only get 2500-3000 for it if I'm lucky. Hell if someone offered me 2500 for it I would probably let it go. It needs some brake work and a paint job. I probably wouldn't get 1500 for it on trade.

First of all, with the deals that you see on new trucks now, I would be hard pressed to buy used. They are selling cars well below dealer invoice. I wouldn't be crazy about buying a gm/chrysler (not because of product) but because of the crappy way they run their business and the bailout money. I just have an issue with that. I have an 08 F150 now, had an 06 and an 04. Liked em all. Toyota makes a heck of a truck...as does Nissan. I realy like the Titan. Some good choices...BTW..I think the Z71 is a fine truck too...

I will never buy another Ford. Never any real major issues but a bunch of little things that are aggrevating -- real aggrevating

My dad has had GMC's since 1996 and is about on his 4 or 5th with no problem (in dirt everyday)

With all that being said I am impressed with the Toyota Tundra Crewmax. It's a good looking truck and plenty of room.

If I had to buy today I would consider GMC, Toyota, or maybe a Nissan

Ford and Dodge would be last on my list

If I buy I am probably going to go with what ever I get the best deal on besides a Dodge. From what I am getting all of them are pretty much the same. I just don't know about that 500 a month payment. A F250 diesel does sound pretty nice but not if it has the 6.0 motor in it. We have had so much trouble with them in the ambulances.

I just called the GMC place about a truck on their website. Seemed like they were really ready to sell a truck. He said you can start by taking 10,000 off the sticker and then we will talk. Shocked the crap out of me. Looks like I may have to go have a sit down with them. He said they have to move them now.
