    Default 12/26 Killing

Twas the night of Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Santa came that morning to my kids delight,
I left the next morning, thinking of geese taking flight.
140 in a field I had recently seen, I hoped they'd come back,
    My Christmas dream.
The blinds were brushed up and decoys were set,
Flocked full bodies and some silhouettes.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But rain at daylight and no wind far or near.
But onward they came in draw after draw
For a full steel sandwich right to the maw.
Then just to my right, a black Chevy was seen,
    Lo and behold, Mr. Greenjeans!
He checked stamps and plugs, said the neighbors were pissed.
But we were all legal, nothing amiss.
When the dust finally settled, 30 lay near,
A stellar day after Christmas. So Happy New Year!

    nice smackage
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

there is nothing like field layout blinds and lots of greater canada geese! Good poem too. That was a helluva Christmas present for your boys!

I meant to add, the Game Warden was there between draws, nice, thorough, then got the hell out so we could continue. A true pro. Thanks guys for all you do.

I know where that one is! I drive by that field everyday! I've got a few ponds and swamps right down the road! Just glad someone was able to lay into those geese they've been there for a while!
