Record sound

Can any of you guys give me some advice on how to record sound without a video with a picture, I am pretty stupid when it comes to technology so any help would be usefull.

what type of sound? you can make a slide show with music once you get the sound recorded. Are you wanting to play it on a tv or computer?

I am wanting to record the sounds of different turkey and duck calls to post on my friends website so that when you look at the call you can hear what it sounds like.
