Default Which HeviShot Load for Snows?

My father-in-law is doing a spring hunt for snows in March. Yall got any recs for the best hevishot load?

I usually shoot 6s at ducks but have never shot geese with'em.

He is shooting a 3" (not 3 1/2"). My gut is that 2s should be the best.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience with hevishot/geese?

    TIA.

Our last two spring trips in Missouri we hunted out of layout blinds with a guide that moved pretty much everyday. First trip we shot Hevishot 2's like Sqatty is saying. The second trip we applied some of that money to the tip pool for the guide and shot them with BB steel. We still averaged 30-50 birds a day with 4 guys, two of which (me included) wouldn't be considered great wingshots. The deal was shooting birds that were decoying down in the spread, not 60 or 70 yards up circling and circling.

Tip - if you've never hunted with this guide, take some Dead Coyote. If the birds won't cooperate, you can still kill some. We had a trip in southern Illinois saved by a case of Dead Coyote.

Dont waste your Hevishot. If you do shoot 4s or even 6s. 3in. Win. Sup. BBs do the trick.

Man and other animals were first vegetarians; then Noah and his sons were given permission to eat meat: “every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you” Genesis 9:3

2's,4's,or 6's will kill the crap out of snows. I personally would shoot #6's. I know it will smoke a Canada's ass.....as long as it's hevi-shot.

i'd close my eyes, pick between the 3, and be happy with the results. they will all do fine.

Might want to check the laws where you are going to hunt at, and see what's the smallest sized shot you can legally hunt with. I've always been told that #2's are the smallest legally you can hunt geese with here.

I agree, I use to shoot hevi shot a lot but switched to bb's and it is cheaper and works better.
