I haven't been over there since Yellow Freight/Holland went bankrupt, but there were several stacks of old ones set off to the side of the Norfolk Southern tracks at the crossing at S. Burty Rd and Lenhardt Grove Rd, just West of White Horse Rd (Exit 44B off I85). Call their dispatch/maintenance dept to make sure it's OK, but they were sitting there last Summer/Fall for quite awhile.

What sort of condition you looking for? They’re replacing all of them between Irmo to chapin and the old ones are just stacked up. Might could get those on the cheap or free.99

Dont take them off the railroad right away. They are railroad property and you can be charged with theft and trespassing on RR property. Probably get more time than if you kidnapped their first born.

No doubt about that. I'd definitely call first, but since they were sitting there for a few months I'd think they'd be happy to let someone have them and save them the trouble of hauling them off.

That’s what I was thinking. Make a phone call and they’d probably tell you to have all you want?

Contract sold. Give it a few more weeks and they will sort, bundle and ship them out to be sold to retail.

Railroad don't give nothing away. Hell when I worked there we couldn't get crossties without an act of congress.

As one other guy said DONT take it upon yourself to just take them.

When they quit putting creosote in them due to environmental bs they went to shit quickly. Without creosote they invite bugs that you don't want around your house. Atleast not close to it anyway for what it is worth.
