Well, it may not be why you think. Turns out he unwittingly stumbled into a CIA plot. Now you gotta think the guys at the CIA said holy crap. We have a freaking crack head who is flirting with Chinese spies, and he is now in one of major geo political operations. Great.
Then the next guy walks in the room and says yea, but now think about how much sway we have over Joe Biden. The light bulbs go off, and they decide they need to get Joe back in the White House.
