Last year was my 1st year keeping bees. My overwinter hives did well. I bought a couple of more packages this year. Both are doing good. I will be looking to make splits also. Does anyone on here in the upstate ever attend any of the local bee club meetings?

I cut this hive out from under a mobile home Saturday. Those bees were hot and heavy!

I wonder how long they have been there. The comb is still colored pretty light as far as I can tell.

It doesn't look like long they've been there for long. Most of that comb was fresh very fresh.

I cut it out and filled up 8 deep frames and I think 6 super frames with the comb. I still have half of my Bee Butler box full of comb that I am going to freeze and repurpose for my queen mating boxes.

No question about it. Those bees have built a lot of comb in a short period of time. I would say that you have the makings of a very strong colony.
