What politicians or their families made money off this bullshit EV lie?

why are we allowing .gov to pick winners and losers at the risk of the tax payer? Time for us to step up against these crooks on columbia.

This is not what I was told, but really hard to know all the specifics. I was told a group from up North purchased it to sell the credits. Stands and equipment had to be removed so restoration could begin. Saiid the clubhouse was going to be destroyed.... I find that hard to believe but maybe.

State wants growth and the jobs that come with it. What you get are SOME LOWER PAID JOBS, increased traffic, new housing developments, and a lot more yankees

I’m so thankful that the forestry commission is going to get this property so they can plant more loblolly. It’d be really awesome if they would plant longleaf so they can rake straw.

You left out increased crime and taxes. Yet growth is good for us.

Is Millaree part of the Scout site?

Is Millaree owned by private individuals?

How is the state involved in Millaree or the people buying or selling it?

    yes
    yes it was
    and this
"Project principles included the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Richland County, Open Space Institute, and Water & Land Solutions. The project is backed by the Department of Commerce with bridge funding coming from Open Space Institute. Restoration and enhancement of wetlands and streams is being performed by an expert and experienced team at Water & Land Solutions. Other project partners include Congaree Land Trust which holds the Conservation Easement on the Congaree Mitigation Site. The South Carolina Forestry Commission will be the eventual long-term steward and make the property available for public use upon transfer to that agency."

"Millaree" was a tract that had several owners. Some of it was "sold" to a conservation group that put an easement on it and then transferred that to RICHland Co to provide Scout with offset credits so they can pave more land for runoff mitigation. Some of it is still privately owned. This comes from one of the members as of a couple of months ago...

It does not appear Millaree is part of Scout.

Do you believe the split, sale , easement, county transfer all occurred because they specifically saw Scout coming?

    I just read the link.

Tax dollars were used for the conservation easement and the Commerce funds to close the deal.

I heard 22 million went towards the site mitigation coming out of the closing funds.

its being called a state park
i think it has something to do with "the state."
and its part of the Scout mitigation.
and it was privately owned (at least the part in this easement)

i think raping land A and preserving land B is a 50% net loss of land. that's silly. its a sham- a political one and no i'm not running for office.
and millaree is a swamp. protection from what? Whom? I'd rather a person own it than the state.
i can go on for days about the stupidity of things such as this. I am sure you will take your politicians stance but what good comes of this?
surely you can see through the bullshit, right?

Personally, it is sad. It also seems too much paid for mitigation without much public benefit.

Past the waste and the location (right next to a fucking 30,000 acre National Park) the number of South Carolinians of all ages who rode through the gate and were introduced to hunting at Millaree.
