Good luck to all of the youths out there this weekend. Got a few picked out, hopefully they will cooperate.

We had them pinned down after hearing a pile Wednesday and Yesterday. Not a peep this morning. Had a ball and headed to baseball. My 7 year old’s first turkey hunt.

Heard 4 different birds this morning and 2 yesterday morning. Now just need to make a game plan to seal the deal Friday on my first bird. Hopefully it will pan out this year.

Had 2 where they were "supposed" to be and 1 off in another spot. Gobbled a few times on the limb then shut down completely. Around 815 had a single gobble way off in the distance. Never heard the hens or any of them fly down. So we will be back at them again in the am. Other son and my buddy are working 2 birds on opposite side of club as I type this. We are laid up in the grass enjoying the nice breeze in rhe shade. Life is good.

Sat up between where I saw three gobblers Thursday afternoon and heard three gobblers Friday morning. They were 500 yards over on the next property this morning. Property lines and ethics kept us from going to them. Chicken biscuits and baseball practice kept us from waiting on them. Had a great time with my grandson so it was a successful hunt.

Didn’t hear a peep early, did some walking and finally struck a bird up at 9, gobbles steady and allowed us to cut the distance on him, setup on him and called once and he quickly cut the distance, I couldn’t see him until he got to 50 yards but my boy watched him run in from 100 yards out, stopped and strutted/gobbled at 50, then immediately tucked/ran the rest of the way. I stopped him at 20 and the boy sealed the deal.

Nice heavy bird, 24lbs, 11” beard, 1” spurs.
