They do but only so they can complain about 'em.

Shotgun safety concerns? I don't know how to address that stupid, beuqacratic response.
Mosquitoes? Anyone that doesn't own a thermacell or five should be eaten 'till dead by mosquitoes in a great act of natural selection.
Gators? I'd wade around at Samworth grabbing bullfrogs by hand before there was a gator hunting season. Don't take the dogs.
Roads? I'm sure there are plenty of green jeans that'll be happy to fine the piss out of folks that are being idiots and tearing up roads.

Sounds like the powers that be have become way too comfy and have a massive case of the IDGASs! The reasons you say they give you for not exploring this are plain pitiful.
“I can’t wait ‘till I’m grown” is the stupidest @!#* I ever said!

I would tend to disagree! Seen plenty “accidentally” shot. In fact that’s how I met Rhett Bickley for the first time. Some idiot next to us shot a wood duck and he was watching from a distance. The public’s ability to ID ducks or lack there of as it were will be the main reason this won’t ever happen!

If you shoot a black/mottled or wood duck during early teal, you need to get a ticket big enough to never make that decision again.

What stops someone from shooting wood ducks in the river during early teal?

It's not like the laws change or don't apply if you hunt in a WMA during early teal?

Nothing stops them and it happens all the time. I agree that it should carry a hefty fine. I’m just saying that it’s just another reason to not allow it on WMAs.

Probably the best solution would be to have a 5-7 day early season and include wood ducks. The USFWS would probably allow it in the framework but count it as a deduction from the total days allowed. Just work the reduced days off the end of the regular season.

Open up the WMAs but don't allow dogs. Some idiots can't leave home without them.

Would all the techs just have that week off? Pretty busy time of year for those guys. Hurricane season, mowing dikes, maintenance on trunks, etc.
I guess if you don’t mind a track hoe working on the dike in the unit you’re in, you’ll be Ok…
