    Default Steel-toed boot recommendations?

I'm looking for a "hiking boot" type steel toed boot. I only need them maybe 5-10 days a year but on those days, I'm standing in them for 8-10 hours.

Looked at Wolverine Durants and Irish Setter Ely. I won't spend another dime or Rocky or Merrell or Redhead boots. Carhartt and Keen have some but the ratings seem a little lower than the Irish Setters and Wolverines.

    Suggestions?

I came to suggest Keen, as I own several pairs (but none steel toed).

Rocky boots are garbage and I won't buy another pair either. Of any kind.

Definitely Keen…….I think most are “safety toe”, but same thing.

The Keen boots are really good looking. I'll pay more attention to them now. Do you buy them local or online? I'm thinking Cabelas since I have one near the house.

Veteran by chance? If so, there's some decent pricing available:

I know my size and they all seem to fit about the same so I just ordered them online.

Red wing King Toe boots that I've used for 5+ years now and I love them. Not sure if this is "hiking" style enough but very comfortable.

Thorogood, hands down the best steel-toe boots I've ever worn. I wear them everyday and have for 2 years now. I have one of the styles made in America. My company is making me get a new pair that will sit in the back of the closet because these will be good for at least another 2.

In the past I’ve had great luck with Thorogood but last three pairs haven’t been the same quality as my old ones. I’m only getting 6-9 months out of them anymore. Started wearing them 12-15 years ago. No plans of buying them anymore. I always bought the American made ones.

My last three pair have been Keen San Jose. Some of the most comfortable footwear I've ever had. Got the first pair from CB Forest in Cayce and they held up fairly well. The last two pair came from Amazon and the soles came unglued within a few weeks. I actually filled out a warranty request on both pair this afternoon and received a response pretty quickly. I hope they get it corrected because I'd like to keep wearing them.

I have to wear steel toes every day all day long. My favorite are the Irish settler elys. I wear them all the time even when i am not working. If i am not wearing Lacrosse rubber boots hunting i am wearing the elys. They are comfortable and they last.

I got hooked on the 8” Danner Crafter. They also make it in a 6” version. Never had any luck with the Keen or Timberland Pro’s

I got some Keen Flint IIs. Thanks for the Keen suggestions. The display model Wolverines were already splitting on the toe. The Irish Setters were really nice but rubbed some when I walked in them. Thanks for the guidance.

I love mine, and I've got the Moc-Toe. Not nearly the weight of the steel, but just as good for what I do with them!
