Default A quick trip with the old man

I had a few days available and had an invite to take my dad and a buddy to Southeast Missouri. We thought it would be gangbusters on the thaw, but the crazy thick fog kept us from shooting more than a double handful. Great place, food, and people, but weather is what it is, so we made the best of it.

We were lucky enough to have a friend in Arkansas that can always save the day when he so chooses, and he so chose. So on the “way home” we stopped by to have the day saved. To be able to share his place with my dad and a great longtime friend was truly priceless. It’s gonna cost a few SC hard gobbling turkeys, but I have that currency.

    Even added a band.

Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

They don't put Championship rings on smooth hands

What part of Arkansas did you swing through?

I have a good buddy that moved just outside of Russellville and I'm needing to make a trip out there sometime.

    Beautiful buddy.

I wish I could breathe life back in him, if I could I'd hunt him again tomorrow. - Ben Rodgers Lee

Awesome trip. Your dad will never forget it. Neither will you...

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Great what you did.........However I had too much respect for my(late) father to ever call him the old man.

Very nice. Cherish the time together. I shared the last hunt with my father in 2019 and he passed away the last day of turkey season in '23. Memories like yours are what helps fill the void.

    respect comes with age.
and you're weird. give your model 12s away.

Good stuff, Boozer. I honked at you when you were packing up last week....

I'd pay a fair piece to hunt with my old man again, that's for sure.
