    Default Taxes on Ag/Timberland

Have y'all seen this? Proposal to do away with Ag/Timberland tax exemption. I don’t think this will go anywhere, but it would be detrimental to forestry, agriculture, and private landowners if this passed.

That would definitely kick off a surge of land sales, development and cause a huge influx of yankees. That guy needs to be voted out if he doesn't understand that.

I certainly hope that this is his last term after he has now kicked an ant hill.

We’re having a bit of the same on an issue locally whereby the County Treasurer(?) is telling my neighbor that the forestry exemption that has been on 5 acres of his property since 1999 is now being cancelled because the neighborhood Covenants say that a commercial business isn’t allowed. The Treasurer is claiming that allowing trees to grow for eventual harvesting would violate that. However, the developer originally told me that forestry exemptions were allowed and that language was included to stop anyone starting a car repair, real estate, or retail business, etc, to eliminate non-residence traffic.

All in all it’s clear they all just want more $$$ to spend.

I like how he says Gtown has LOST millions due to the exemption. They haven't lost a thing, just have not been able to forcibly take it (steal) through taxation. F that guy and the rest of the money grabbing politicians.

I mean they lost the cost of building new roads, other infrastructure, and schools to support this new influx of development.

That one’s never met a tax he didn’t like.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

This is quite typical of today's enlightened progressive thinking.

You tax the consumer, never the producer.

If they tax you and me, they should tax the church too.

That's probably not a popular opinion on here, but my point is "stop".
