    The pup….. he acted like a goofball yesterday. Rolled in something that smelled quite unpleasant, ran off with a squirrel that Jake dropped, just having a grand time being a pup.

    But overall I’m pleased.

    He’s doing well loading up when it’s time to hunt, has really calmed down when I go to put a tracking collar on him. Small stuff but things that do make a difference in how pleasurable a dog is to handle and hunt.

    In the woods he is fairly independent, doesn’t stay right under Jake the whole time and keeps his nose to the ground. I can tell when he gets squirrely and quite a few times now I’ve seen the squirrel in the tree that he’s interested in. He just hasn’t started barking yet. I have no intention of trying to rush the process, it’ll come to him in time. Jake was almost two before he really put it together. When it finally clicked for him that was it, he was 100% turned. So I’m just waiting it out with Hondo
