    Default New to bows

I was gifted a used Mathews solo cam this Christmas. I’d like to mess around with it some and see if it interests me.

What do I need to do to get this thing going? I know absolutely nothing when it comes to bows.

I figure it needs to at least be restrung and I need a trigger release. Can someone point me in the right direction so I don’t spend too much money on something I’m not sure I’m into yet?

1st- measure your draw length and see if the bow will even fit you.

Head to nearest archery shop and have them set draw length if possible. They should be glad to help you get set up. Much better to get started correctly then learn bad habits early.

    What they said.

Go by eastern sales and have Kelly check your draw length to see if the bow will work. He can build you a set of strings if it needs them. You don’t need anything crazy expensive to get started, I still shoot a Fletcher .44 caliber release I’ve had for 16 years.

    I’m in Conway.

Yeah I thought about takin it to Eastern supply.
I think the draw length is on it. Is measuring my draw something I can do myself or better off just letting them do?

You can measure it yourself and get real close

This. Find a good shop with a good tech that isn't a salesman. K.I.S.S.

Well that’s what I was worried about was a salesman leading me into it a several hundred and than messing with it a few times and putting it up.

But I’ll go with CWs recommendation once I get a rough estimate on my draw and see if it’ll even work for me.

    Appreciate the advice.

easy way to measure draw length, Hold both arms straight out and measure the distance from the tips of your middle fingers, Divide by 2.5 and that will give u your draw length

J&K Outdoors in Conway has been helpful to me.
