With the proximity to Chicora Wood, I would be planting Swamp Timothy in a couple of fields, which is one of the favorite foods of pintails and teal. I wouldn't think they would roost in it.

I respect that. I just think with 10 impoundments, planting 2-3 impoundments for teal season and allowing walk in access isn't too much to ask from the people that are now paying for the property.
Why is roost habitat a bad thing? Ducks need refuge from us, aerial cover protection from predators and food, I'm no biologist but RG seemed to check all the boxes. I was there a week ago for a youth hunt, there was no shortage of ducks all morning.

Walk in access for teal season, like our public dove fields? Can you imagine what that would look like?
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I have no problems with youth and the disabled being able to hunt there.

I have issue with the property being another under utilized tax payer funded tidewater plantation.

We should take advantage of what we have.
Bluewings are an under utilized resource in this state and our very own DNR managed properties hold thousands of these birds that never get hunted.

Why can't we hunt them on Cat 1 properties? Why do I have to bring this simple idea to DNR?
i dont have much of an opinion on a lot of this but if you think you have some magic formula for roosting ducks I also want you in charge of flooding hogs out of existence every few years.
i caution you not to talk in absolutes when you think you know everything about deterring a roosting wood duck...

the rest of the time you can pretend you know everything
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

Wouldn’t you be speaking in absolutes?

Millet fields with a thousand teal aren’t exactly rare in SC.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
