    Default Boat Gas

I’m not a rocket doctor but I don’t think it’s suppose to look like this. Guess we won’t be pounding on them spottails this weekend.

Why in the world would you be using ethanol gas in a boat these days?

Typically never do. I think I did it with the intention of disconnecting the gas line and running it out when I was done but obviously didn’t happen.

Might as well rebuild the fuel system while you at it.

Drain it, fill it up and go. You'll be fine.

I'd suggest 93 octane and running some injector cleaner or Seafoam (heavy dose), too.

Ethanol is the devil to outboards. It will dissolve the internal fuel line and seals

This, the ethanol (alcohol) causes seals and gaskets to swell and hardens fuel lines

I would pump the entire tank. When the ethanol separates out, you lose the octane boost it provided, so your 87oct is now more like 84 octane… or in simpler terms, susceptible to detonation

There’s a high chance you caught it early enough. Just drain tank, flush lines and run with e-free gas

The bad think is I filled up the rest of the tank to the brim. I cranked it up before we went out and it fired up but once I got on the water, it cut off and never could get it correct again. That’s when I find out I had bad gas in the tank.

Usually at least 1 trash dump per county will accept gasoline
