Check out these slow pitch rods I had delivered. They aren’t Ugly Sticks though. Supplier has evidently never heard of a rod tube and the fragile stickers may have been unnoticed on the box. Dang act of congress to get this vendor to agree to a refund. About to sick the Amazon police on them.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Salty - have you had much luck with slow pitch here?

I've bought a couple rods and jigs and sat on the front of the boat whipping away with little more than a trigger to show.

Granted, I haven't anchored on the ledge to do it, but I've worn my shoulder out in 100ft.

I'm starting to believe its just a Florida thing
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

We kill them with the slow pitch. At least 50% of our catch is on the jigs. 80g in 80-110’ depending on current, 100-150 to 200’ and 150-250g 200-400’. Grouper, snapper, triggers, BSB, cobia, everything. It’s a feel and touch game and the right tackle setup. I run an Accurate BV300N on an OTI 100g rod to an Accurate BV500N on a 400g Pinnacle rod and fish them light and slow. Want to tune them up, tip with a squid strip.

I hooked 2 on a slow pitch the other day that I never turned around. I’m assuming AJ

I must concur. My Tiger rods are the best non-trolling blue water rods in my collection. Been trying to find more but can only find the Medium Light or jigging versions.

Y'all jiggers need to learn how to throw a cast net.

    Just kidding. Sort of.

I missed the title of this thread. Fun topic.

Field & Stream magazine used to be great. And they ran adds for the ugly stik rod when I was a little kid. I aggravated my dad about that rod and he got he an ugly stik rod with a Mitchell Garcia 300 reel for Christmas in +/- 1978. I was 9 or 10. Back then, this was the best stuff on the market. I murdered the bass with that thing. I had that rod and reel for at least 30 years. The rod was very tough but I took good care of it.

I must not be doing it right.

I’ve caught triggers doing it. Yet to see a grouper.

Red snapper love a slow pitch jig, that’s for sure.

Ugly Stik with braid is 10x more sensitive than a 10 year old $300 rod. They serve their purpose well for me.
