Cooked my first batch this past weekend. I just put them in a hot pan and let the moisture come out of them. I threw in a couple pats of butter and cooked till tender. Put them on top of some wild turkey fettuccine…that came from the same block of woods as the shrooms.

When in doubt, shoot him again!

Work like it's all up to me, but pray, like it's all up to him!

All these popped up in my mulch by the lake.
    What are they?
    Edible?

Messing around with growing them at the house. Wasn’t sure if it was going to work with them on the counter but seems like the Lions mane is happy. Pink oysters are behind it but I started them a little later. Supposedly I can get 2-3 flushes out of each block. I may end up getting some kind of grow apparatus to better control humidity in the future.

Chanterelles in butter with garlic, shallots, thyme, salt and pepper, splash of cream and a shit load of Parmesan on a micro plane. Served on fresh pappardelle.

I'm just lying down after a seriously epic fish fry that included bass and bream, fresh chanterelles, Lilfred's style slaw, and Woodford. I don't miss this heat and humidity one bit, but damn if I don't miss being able to eat like this whenever I want to. While heading out to the chanty spot this morning, we ran into a thumping muscadine vine. It's hard to comprehend that my 11 and 9 year old boys ate their first muscadines today, as I had eaten my weight n muscadines five times over by the time I was 11. Holleman, as he was pondering the glory of his first muscadine and sorting the seeds from the goodness, looked up and asked, "how are these so good?!" No doubt! Take nothing for granted, and make the most of what God has blessed you with! As a bonus, ran into Highstrung at Camden's Groucho's deli...always good to see him. It's always tough leaving here, but three weeks from Saturday, I'll be on a mountain chasing bugles, so I can't complain!

If you're still here this weekend let's go walk the woods for chanterelles.

Man, I appreciate the invite, and I’d love to, but this trip was way too short. We flew in in Monday and we are flying out at 6am from Charlotte tomorrow. It’s all the time I had this summer, but I’ll holler at you when I’m here for a few weeks next year.

They grow super fast. A guy I used to work with did a lot of hobby mushroom growing and he grew those. He gave me a setup just like what you've got just being a nice guy. I got 3 good flushes from it.

They're pretty good tasting. Grab them before the edges flatten out.

Made omletes this morning for the family with yesterday's chanterelles.

Inside are chanterelles sautéed in garlic and butter, with some Kerrygold cheese. A few more shrooms on the plate for good measure. We all ate good this morning.
