Blessed to have shared many sunrises and sunsets with my sons at camp. God's handiwork over the Gulf marsh.

Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

Well this sums up my last few trips out. Really slow in my area.
Pack crap in, set-up watch a sunrise, pack crap out.

Unfortunately this is becoming a common occurrence. Horrible waterfowl season in my neck of the woods. Nothing but sunrises.

The guy down the pond from me blew more species of calls in one day, then I have ever heard before in my life. Glad to know he got a solid 2 hours of practice in. Nothing like hearing a dude hammer a speck call knowing there isn't a speck in the whole county.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

Not a terrible way to start the day. Fishing is slow but the coffee and the time with my son is spot on.
