    No grinder = no burger.

I either grilled, made roasts, stews or bbq.
Everyone once in a while I'd pound out some cubed steak.

Do y’all mofo’s even know how to clean fish? What a sad bunch. I won’t even ask if y’all know how to get a cooter out of his shell or get the kernels out of a coon….

I would agree with you if this was 15-20 plus years ago but today that young person is to blame as well. With technology at your finger tips one can YouTube about anything when it comes to processing, cleaning and so forth

The folks what are using time-saving professional services in their communities need to tuck their cock and balls between their legs and take a long hard look in the mirror.

The same folks that use cellular cameras, feeders, laser range finders and ozone generators too, right?

Y’all stop piling on….a man can choose to spend his $ anyway he pleases.

My old man taught me and made me clean lots of deer……but when his 75 yr old ass shoots one now he happily pays Shane’s guys to handle those things for him.

It’s ok to know how and choose not too

I have cleaned plenty myself and appreciate a father teaching me how.

I work hard enough M-F to be able to afford to drop it right off at the processor and pick it up when he calls me.

Some things aren’t worth my time and I have no need to prove my manliness by being able to process a deer.

y'all sure do bitch and moan a lot. aint many here saying they dont know how to clean a deer. the sky aint falling.

If someone would set me up with a grinder and all the stuff I need to make burger or sausage, I would do it myself. Until then, I still clean my own deer, break them down, and put them on ice before processing.

Maybe we should discuss the relative merits of dry aging a deer without fat in the muscle...

    Yessir....spot on.

And FWIW, I didn't rise to the top of the food chain to eat coon or opossum. There's a bunch of chickens, turkeys, fish and deer that would have to go extinct before I made my way that far down the list.

ETA: And now the most concerning thing I find about this thread, is the fact I agree with Toof again....

My old cheap grinder broke last year after 7-8 years of service, so I couldn't make burger with one deer I killed. I ended up pressure canning what would have been ground meat, and I have enjoyed being able to pop a lid off a mason jar and have cooked deer ready to eat.

I enjoy processing them. Not at the time, but it's satisfyingly after the fact.

All I’m saying is that those are basic life skills every person should know how to do. America is no longer the worlds superpower. We are hated by basically every other nation. When our government collapses and all those precious federal reserve notes that you use to pay processors are not worth their length in charmin, you will wish you had learned all those basic life skills.

Never taken a deer to a processor myself. Always skin my own, and process my own. We have a cooler at the club house. I worked in a packing house in high school and through college so there is not to much to learn about the process. Actually now days it is all boneless when it leaves the club and after lunch on Saturday I may bone out several deer for others. It only take a few minutes. Several in the club use processor between Winnsboro and Chester (don't know the name) but said most in the area were closed due to labor shortage. I would like to buy a cuber but a real cuber is pretty expensive. I have a grinder but don't particularly like ground deer. It is easier and more convenient for most to take to a processor. I am a tight wad and would not pay a processor fee for a truck load of deer meat.

When your old man calls and says “I killed one, what do I do now???” Is when he’ll be relevant in this conversation.

I'm ashamed to admit I buy milk at the grocery store.
