    Default Quail hatching

About 18 days ago I ordered some coturnix quail eggs and an incubator off Amazon.

Coturnix quail are jumbo size and lay eggs every day. The eggs are a little smaller than a ping pong ball but bigger than a large grape. Supposedly they eat well (bird and egg). Can't speak to that yet.

Looks like my crew is ready to come out now. Never hatched anything besides fish so this is pretty fun for me.

You can see the first crack there in that 2nd pic.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

I got 7 so far. They look pretty healthy but so fragile. One has something hanging from what I assume to be his belly. Looks like maybe an umbilical cord. He does not like it. I gave them some water and some food and they are chowing down. My dogs are licking their lips. I imagine the bass would also enjoy one.

Do you have them under a heat lamp? Never raised quail but I imagine it is similar to how you brood baby chicks.

Yea I have em in a rubbermaid tub with a heat lamp over one side. They seem to lay together on the other side so I guess they kinda know what temp to keep themselves.

I feel sort twisted saying this, but a video of your bass eating one would be "cool".

    I feel bad now, sorry.

I've already debated the ethics of this. In the event one is better suited as fish food it's only right I document the event. For the purpose of furthering bass research, of course.
