Ms. Kay just solved your problem:

At least I'm housebroken.
$160 wouldn’t even get half a cat spayed.
The money these fools spend on their 6.5 creeds and brodoziers pales in comparison to an heirloom quality pan.
Cooking/ spaying I see no relationship. This whole thing about a $160 frying pan makes no sense either. I could buy a shit ton of Jack Daniels for that. Or half hour with a so so hooker.

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Missing you my great friend.
ButterPat LiLi
Damn. Those Butterpat pans are priced to make Smithey look like Camp Chef.
Lodge is not bad. Picked up a factory second from one of their outlet stores for $10 bucks last month. Little money in it so I decided to grind/polish the interior to see if it actually makes a difference. It will be seasoned by the weekend and given a test run.

Field Company makes a pretty fine cast iron pan as well.

Lodge deep pan
BSR is an easy to find less expensive older skillet. Look for the deep ones. I use my great grandmothers #8 10 5/8 weekly.
Great gift idea. I have amassed a small collection and have restored a few family pieces. Two of them date back to the turn of the 20th Century. Both will slide an egg like no new Lodge I ever used will. I have a chicken fryer with legs to restore that I know fried many a vittle over coals before the family had a wood burning stove.
Now that I'm intrigued by the whole "high-end cast ironware" thing, why would someone pay $200 for pan when they can get pretty-much the same pan for $20? How much of a difference is there between "high-end" pan and the Walmart equivalent? Serious questions.
Don't look at it as a pan. Look at it as art, that you cook on. Crafted by a local, small business person. Not everyone will appreciate it, the same way not everyone appreciates a custom call or rifle. People like different things. Plus, when I think of giving someone a gift, Walmart doesn't even occur to me.
