The 300M by itself, as a Business Class product the it's $109.99/month. No taxes, no modem rental fee, but we do charge for WiFi ($4.99). If you have your own WiFi router (basic router is $30 at Walmart/Staples/etc) you'll get that back in a few months.

After month 13 it goes $129.99 and stays there.

Keep in mind, since you "work from home" a lot, it should be considered a Business expense but that's between you and our accountant. Also bear in mind that Business gets network priority so you'll be less susceptible to slow downs when the network traffic is at its peak (~4pm-10pm). Residential folks actually suck more bandwidth that most of the Business folks do. By the time the kids get home and play games and mom/dad start checking email and streaming videos/TV themselves the Businesses have gone home so they never really feel the crunch.

But since we've opened up more bandwidth to support the increased speeds, most customers shouldn't see much network slow downs anymore.

Am I correctly hearing that when my cell goes to 5g then my entire house would run off of a wireless hotspot?

That's the marketing team for the cellular companies at work right. Will it work as advertised?... Possibly

You be the guinea pig and let us all know.

The funny thing is even when you get those products you're still getting service from us, technically. Spectrum is one of the largest cellular backhaul providers around the area and many other regions in the nation. Once that wireless signal hits a tower it comes and goes to/from said tower via our fiber optics. AT&T, Farmers, Windstream, we all provide cellular backhaul for the wireless companies' towers.

I'll see what I can do. Pm me your address to make sure we can service it. Don't wanna waste anyone's time if you're beyond the coverage area.

This is how the Asian countries have internet. A physical network is very expensive to maintain and the whole world (construction, nature, homeowners, etc.) are constantly trying to find new and creative ways to break it. With my hotspot on LTE, I can watch Netflix, et. al. when I travel. I dont trust hotel wifi, so I do this quite often. I take an AppleTV, laptop and iPad when I travel and all run off the hotspot with little or no noticeable issues. I feel this will be the only real competition and when the consumers begin to flex their dollars in a meaningful way. MG

That was my next concern. I need to verify this cause a cable installer told me I would still get what I am seeing on the Spectrum app. Going to call them shortly.

What about this Carolina Connect that is supposed to be heading down toward the hole soon they say? Running a ATT Wireless hotspot now but it is pricey for 20/gigs a month. Running off the wireless hotspot in the truck at the moment and it works great for unlimited data for 20 bucks a month

Meh, kinda. Some of the "bells and whistles" that make channel surfing a little easier and convenient are disabled on Business Class TV packages. Reason being most Business Class TV customers kind of "set it and forget it", there's not much channel surfing. So to cater the product to the audience we turn certain features off. Plus, Business owners don't want folks randomly buying stuff on the On Demand, porn, etc, so that's cut off too.

If I have a customer that wants to put a Business TV at their home in conjunction with a Business internet I always warn them they may not be pleased because of the aforementioned details.

But I will put a Business internet at a Residential address in a heartbeat for Small Business owners who "work from home." Some folks need a Static IP address for accessing company databases/apps etc and Spectrum has never allowed a Static IP address on a Resi internet connection. It HAS to be Business Class. That's where I come in.

I've heard out your way the Electrical provider is running fiber and such. Some power companies have tinkered with internet but not to much success.

One thing's for sure... internet and products that use it will continue to evolve. Right now many phone companies are making the immense investment in fiber to the business and to the home. They're doing that to keep up with us. We made that investment 20 years ago. Spectrum's fiber-rich network is what we refer to as a "Hybrid-fiber-coax" one. Where all your little data packets and TV signals are all fiber to within a mile or so of your home or business, where the fiber hits a device called a "Node" which converts light to digital signals that are distributed via the coax portion that last little part that we refer to as the "last mile" to your home/business. So once the data packets leave your modem, depending on where the closest node is, it's only riding on coax for a very small piece of the complete path it takes to and from the interweb. Once it gets to the node, it's all fiber from there. It's very robust and efficient.

Check and make sure the Spectrum app still works with a cable subscription. I went the same route and put rokus on every tv and dropped back to internet only. The Comcast tv app no longer worked. I ended up having to get one DVR box in the house in order to use their app.

It actually tested out at 88 mbps over wifi, which is strong. I have never "streamed" other than Netflix. I hooked up 3 Roku's yesterday, and so far, I couldn't be happier. Fast/clear picture, and more channels than I want to watch.

My bill is supposed to be $88 plus tax per month. At the old house I was paying Directv $160+ and Spectrum $65 for internet. They also gave me an upgraded modem, so that if 100mbps isn't enough, they can boost me to business class at 300 mbps for an extra $20.

Hell, my wife even complemented me on it last night
This is exactly where I have just landed w/ Spectrum. Package and 100mbps Internet speed and compliment from wife.

Yeah, They wanted to charge my daughter $5,000 to run cable 400 ft. Course they bought all the rights and ATT can offer. So now they have satellite on roof of brand new home. If they buy up rights they should be requred to offer to every one.

    It's Grand Theft!

They talk about all the channels, most are duplicate and triplicate and the others............................. I don't speak damn spanish

I don't think "rights" has anything to do with your situation.

Sometimes you have to take a step back and look at it from our point of view. Keep in mind Spectrum is not a public utility. We're a for-profit company and despite what people think, internet isn't a right it's still a privilege. Like any other business we have to make smart decisions on where we spend out money. If we spent $5000 to build cable to every home that sits ~100 yards from the road it would take us 17 years to get that investment back from the typical $150/month residential account. And that's just not a smart business decision. Juice simply isn't with the squeeze. Does it suck for the home/business owner? Yup.

Trust me there's tons of businesses that I have sold service to that we wouldn't build. I get $5000/business in construction dollars to work with, and $5000 won't get you very far when new underground cable is about $8/ft to install. So often times I'll find a small area with multiple businesses that want a product with us and if the total construction cost averages less than $5k/customer we'll build it.

And keep in mind, we don't care about cable. Cut the cable, we don't care... our real profits come from phone and internet. Because we have to pay ESPN, HBO, CNN, Fox, etc etc for their programming. By the time we upcharge it a little and sell it to the costumer there ain't much profit there. Internet and phone costs us less to provide, so there's a much bigger profit margin.
