    Default 6.5hp go devil setup

I have the opportunity to buy a 6.5hp go devil long tail on the cheap. The boat I'd be running it on would be a little 1436. Could anybody with any experience with a similar setup tell me what you think about it? Mostly going to be using it with one person, rarely two. I'd definitely rather have a bigger motor but this 6.5hp is a pretty good price. Any words of wisdom appreciated.

It’s a lot on that boat. Don’t try and run wide open through the swamp or you will put a dent in the bow that your dad will remind you about every single time he uses it.

It's welded but regardless, I see what you're saying

That kind of good advice can only come from first hand experience

Used to have a 20hp long tail on an old riveted 1436, you will be fine.

It will be no speed demon but will work.

It will be slow as molasses. I have a 23 hp surface drive on a riveted 1454 and it takes a beating but holds up to it.

Slow but better than paddling. We run a 6.5 twister on a 14ft gheenoe, 1 person, new prop 11-12mph. Two people is 10mph.

New props last about a trip in the cypress knees. Now, I just go slow and appreciate not having to paddle. We only could open up above idle in the ponds anyway.
