    Default Auto Insurance

I Have commercial auto on a $6,000 work truck and I’m paying out the ass.
My last policy was with progressive and it was like $320 a month and the coverage was very low.
Got a new policy with Nationwide with more coverage and it was supposed to be about the same price. First bill comes in the mail and it’s $414 WTF!!!
I’m under 25 and have a few points against my license so that doesn’t help.

Any of you business owners know of a reasonably priced insurance agency other than what I mentioned.

I would try to go the independent agent route. That’s what I did and it saved me a ton of money. I was like you under 25 with points when I switched. I can give you a contact if your interested just pm me.

Because if you are operating it for commercial use and have an accident/hurt someone they are coming after you personally. Once judge or jury finds out you did not have commercial coverage, the new name of your company will be up to them once they take your business and all assets.

Maybe a contract states he needs commercial coverage. If you are working from that vehicle and endorsing any business from that vehicle I would recommend commercial coverage as you could find yourself in trouble in an accident. The cost of the vehicle has little to nothing to do with your rate would be my guess but the fact that you are under 25 and have a less than stellar driving record (as you admitted) is driving your cost probably combined with the class of business you are in. For the sake of everyone else on the road please get decent coverage and find someone who handles commercial insurance not just the peanut gallery on this site.

Don’t listen to this guy unless you are cool with judgements against you.

Value nor size have anything to do with commercial vs personal auto insurance so don’t listen to this one either.

Is the truck titled to you or the company? If company that’s about the going rate for liability for 1 auto and a $1 million limit. Keep in mind personal autos normally Cary $300k BI limits. Good luck auto rates are going up pretty good in general right now.

I have commercial full coverage on 8 trucks with high coverage limits(CYA higher limits)- State Farm with no driver restrictions and it's about $150/month per truck. 3 diesels, 2 duallys, half are 4x4.
