    Default Chinese Nuclear

Folks - been reading for a while and decided to join the fun.

Since there was a post about China and Superpower, brought to mind New Nuclear Unit Sanmen Unit 1 which is online and generating.

    And China's future plans...

    http://www.world-nuclear.org/informa...ear-power.aspx

The 13th Five-Year Plan formalized in March 2016 included the following nuclear projects and aims:
•Complete four AP1000 units at Sanmen and Haiyang.
•Build demonstration Hualong One reactors at Fuqing and Fangchenggang.
•Start building the demonstration CAP1400 reactor at Rongcheng (Shidaowan).
•Accelerate building Tianwan Phase III (units 5&6).
•Start building a new coastal power plant.
•Active preparatory work for inland nuclear power plants.
•Reach target of 58 GWe nuclear operational by end of 2020, plus 30 GWe under construction then.
•Accelerate and push for building demonstration and large commercial reprocessing plants.
    •Strengthen the fuel security system

Meanwhile back here in the great state of SC, USA we are looking at a half complete reactor in Jenkinsville; and a $27 Billion dollar construction project at Votgle.

I think that Trump's tariffs are good in short term, but what happens in the long run when the tariffs are removed by then next administration... and in the long run when China has cheaper power over the next 60 years?

I hope that Rick Perry (Department of Energy Secretary) can put 2 & 2 together. I know he has the vet degree and all. I think we need a better plan long term for America's Energy Future. Where the hell is our 5 year USA plan?

Lastly - We are told by Dominion to not mess with SCE&G rates or they will walk. The legislature cuts the rate by 15%. Dominion's response, meet and greets....

I like you. I don't know exactly what you're putting down, but I think I'm tracking. You're other post from today made a lot of sense, and brought up something I had not thought about before.
