Velocity is a function of a difference in pressure. Bigger pump/same holes/more delta P. Same pump/smaller holes/more delta P/zero more money spent.

I'm confused....but not sure I need to understand as much as I just need someone to tell me what to do.

I have 1.5" pvc above (and below) the T. I only drilled 10-12 holes. they were 5/32s. my water does not squirt far. if the point is to have the water squirt farther, I need to make a change.

    What change would you make?
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

    Honkies gonna honk.

1.5" step down to a 1" step down to 1/2" cross piece with fewer holes.

It's like you didn't even take physics.

Just add an infinity edge and your problem is solved.

The size of the pipe makes no difference. The size of the holes make the difference since THEY are the size of the “pipe” that’s increasing the velocity.

If you have 30psi in your system and a 1.5” pipe with 5/32” holes you are going to have 30psia in your 1.5” pipe and a flow rate of X. If you change nothing but the size of the pipe to 1” then you’re going to have 30 psi in your 1” pipe and a flow rate of the same X.

If you keep the current setup and plug half the holes you will have 30 psi in your 1.5” pipe and a flow rate of 2X.

Bottom line? You need less holes of the same size or the same number of smaller holes.

The secret? Count your holes and determine the amount of total opening (THAT is the “pipe size” you need to change....) then cover up holes until you get the distance (flow rate) that you want. Use that new number to determine your new hole size for a given number of openings.

    Done.

The size of the pipe makes all the difference. Smaller pipe will create more pressure.

No. It won’t. Pressure is pressure, whether it’s 1” pipe or 12”
