Go tell that to these states. They seem to do pretty good without it. The Texas economy is the 8th largest economy in the world and that's compared to countries. Taxes always hinder an economy.

No State Income Tax - Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. And residents of New Hampshire and Tennessee

Now property tax - Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia

What I find odd is 13000+ just didn't vote for atty general. That race is almost as important as gov to me.

I don't have time to research it or build an analysis of historical revenue flows, etc, but don't each of the States you've listed have two of the three main categories of taxes, and possibly some specific ones most others don't?

A friend of mine in TEXAS says, "our property taxes go directly to our our local school district, so we see what we're paying for." There is a lot to be said for that, instead of being run thru the state, then the county...etc... too many executives with degrees in animal husbandry. Just saying.

I assumed that property taxes in all states went to funding for the schools in that taxpayers district. If that’s not the case then some folks have a lot of explaining to do.

Your property tax bill should have all of the separate line items documented so you can see right where your money is going... Schools vs County/City operations, etc.
