I've got one now, it's ok. I've had mercurys, Johnson, evinrude and 3 yamahas and the only one that blew up was a 200SWS2 Yamaha, the bulletproof one. Put a shit ton of hours on all the rest and regular maintenance was all they required. I do like this f150 I have now, but I'd buy a new or well maintained used motor of any flavor for the right deal.

I've been considering a boat consolidation for a lot of reasons, and the Seaark 18 foot River Extreme V is looking like a good option. But I haven't even started trying to find a used one yet.

I got the whole buy what I want to buy spiel. I could care less what people think of it. That's not exactly what I came here for. Was really just wondering about the boats themselves. Is it just a Mercedes/Kia thing now or are there known problems with them?

Just look at the built.... gauge of aluminum used, how good are the welds, actually look at the construction of the boat and the layout. Most just buy what they buy based on articles and what people say, it’s doesnt take a trained eye to see the differences. Most people don’t really use them to their fullest extent to warrant paying for the higher end, better built boats. If you buy cheap and beat it up it will show, think buying residential vs commercial grade stuff (that said most don’t use their stuff to a true commercial grade standard, but many like the piece of mind of knowing the construction is there to back up the product). Hope that makes sense....

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I call both of mine just Yamaha, hammer always seem chintzy.. I cannot deal with that. People that say hammer probably ride on the bottom of their jonboat with their beady arms stuck up in the air holding on to a tiller.

I’m flexible. Gotta pick something up from Brett too so we’ll make it work.
