A few friends and wives are kicking around the idea of trailering down 2 boats (24cc and 26cc) and making the run across the gulf for a week in marsh harbor/elbow key area
Anybody ever made that trip and care to discuss the good/bad/ugly

The gulf you would be going the wrong way.
I'm going down there in April with the family, but taking a plane. The VRBO owner we are working with says she has done the trip on a jet ski with a group and a follow boat. I think that is a terrible idea, but goes to show it is possible.
I would love to do what you are doing. It sounds like an awesome trip.
I've got two groups of friends that do it regularly, and I want to do it badly.
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him
He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right
They don't put Championship rings on smooth hands
Take a spare tire or 6
Hey big man lemme hol a dollar.
Bimini.
Those boats are too small for that trip. Just fly in there and reserve a couple of charters so you can enjoy yourself
Those boats are fine together. I’m planning the trip from Stuart to Spanish to Treasure Cay. It is 192 miles one way, but most is on the bank. I’d prefer Green Turtle, but I really like the house setup we are going to go with.
I just got back on Saturday from Treasure Cay. I’d recommend Ft Pierce as the departure point. I left my truck and trailer at Causeway Cove marina. The boat landing is across the street. PM me if you have any questions.

Keep your eye on the weather, currents, etc on Windy and it is no problem. The stream can be a bitch at times as those 2 kids and countless others have found out, so plan well and trust your instincts. You cross when it is right. Not because your schedule says you have to...
This question would be better asked on the hull truth, lots of solid advice over there with a larger percentage of people that have done it numerous times
Take a spare tire rim bearing axel boat motor and family
I've done it 3 times. Once in a 24 McKee Craft and twice in a 31 Contender. West Palm to West End is the only x factor. Buy the sailing guide to the Abacos. Follow the coordinates it gives you. Plan so you hit west end about an hour before high tide, this will make the already shallow water from there to Marsh Harbour a little less scary. Clear customs in Spanish Cay. Drink lots of Kalik. Have fish dip at cracker P's. And do the Sunday pork and booze fest at Nippers. Don't get in any kind of a hurry. Learn how to bow/ stearn anchor. It's one of my favorite places on this earth.
That 24 McKee trip..I still have scars.
Beauty marks!
