Look at a Key West 1520 especially if you can find the 1520EX with side console. It's not designed as a flats boat but has a huge casting deck up front and a decent sized rear deck especially if you remove the backrest and seat cushions. Add a polling platform, power polls and something less than the maximum 80hp it'll float fairly shallow and get around at about 35mph. It's light and easy to tow and launch.

    I had a 1520EX for a while with a 60hp. I really miss having that boat.

16' wahoo center console, driest ride for the size, great in shallow water, flats boat type front end, easy to install platform on back if wanted and you can buy them for peanuts..........

See if you can find a KW Stealth with an older motor, save up and put a new motor on it in the future.

What are your intended target species and water you plan to fish?

Moving to homestead FL, about 30 mins from Key Largo. Would like something I could catch tarpon around bridges and maybe run out to the big water and troll for mahi

I've seen a couple 1520 key West boats around that I really liked actually. All have been cc. Would be interested in a side console for sure to save space.

If I could find a decent one for around 10k I'd try to swing it

With that budget and size in mind my first thought is an original Silver King 16 would fit you best in my opine. I fit an 18' Shipoke in my garage with a removable tongue , measure and see if you can swing an 18 as it will most certainly be better utilized in all facets.
Agreed. Would definitely prefer something big as possible

I bought a 2003 with a Yamaha 90 2 stroke for $14k in 2006. Pretty much broke even when I sold it three years later. I had to go to FL to get it.

Sounds like you are looking for a bay boat not a flats boat for this.

At least two! Always need more than one, but a bay boat sounds more like what you need!

Stay away from any “flats boat” you find within that price! Buy a whaler, any cheap skiff will do nothing but piss you off!!
