Good looking field you got there D. If you get the food there, you will kill birds. I planted mine the first week of June with the grain drill. About 2 weeks before the season opens, bushog a couple rows. I bushog a couple rows every week from that point on. Go back over what you cut the prior weeks too. Got to keep it clean. If you keep fresh seed on the ground and good bare dirt, the birds will come to it. We have been doing it this way for over 50 years.

Cut it as close to the ground as you can. Doves want clean ground where they can get grain and grit.

Same here, have not done a dove field since the old days of when you cut and plowed a field and threw out wheat

We plowed field that had big food plot for deer at Daughter/SIL farm and also cut some more strips in what we call teh upper field. Put out brown top couple weeks ago. Had one light rain on it and a huge storm this weekend so should be going good before long

Last year during deer season place had doves swarming like flies on stink and all of the place out there now

Hope it turns out good, got a few friends that we are going to shoot it along my my Son's FIL and my 3 1/2 yr old grandson, this is what I am looking forward to

Yours is looking good , hope it turns out great for you
