2011- 5/29/15 3.5 ecoboost engine rattle on cold start up
Replace VVT’s and timing chain
And of course the dreaded intake valve carbon build up while we are in there

More fuel = more boost!!
Screw a turbo direct injection engine....
More fuel = more boost!!
Had that done to mine at 55k. No problems and kept it to 100k but got a 6.2 this go round
"And ignoring people on here....that's like being home schooled. Just say you're not ready to face life." Highstrung
Better buy one with a build date of 5-30-15 or newer. At least Ford knows the exact day they built them to that are going to fail lol.

Just did mine. In the shop for a month because the parts were backordered.
Looks like I need to call the dealer.

damn cam phasers all over again
Piles of shit
I love my 2015 5.0 F150 but I'm not going to say it has been completely flawless. It lost a water pump a few months ago. It's got the common issue of a transmission "squawk" when it down shifts from 5th to 3rd if you get on it. It also seems that the starter sticks every once in a while when you crank it. It basically seems to keep turning over for a split second after start up. It only does that about once a month though. It's done me pretty well for the last 105,000 miles though and is headed to A2Z soon for shocks, struts, and to be leveled. I like it enough that I'd buy another one. I have thoroughly enjoyed driving a naturally aspirated V8 4x4 that gets over 20mpg on the highway. I've had as high as 24mpg on my cross country trips.
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
At what mileage are issues starting to come up with the 3.5? I have a 2014 with 71k miles and it has yet to skip a beat.
And is there anything outside of routine maintenance that should be done to increase longevity?

Pull the intake and clean the valves. There is nothing you’re going to do about the VVT’s or chain except start saving. One reply said his started at 55k miles. This truck has 151k miles.

Rattled like hell on cold start up and went away. I have seen the chain so stretched the engine misfired constantly due to timing being off.
More fuel = more boost!!
So are they fixing them under the TSB?

I believe that’s 5 years 60k. I heard they were helping if you were the original owner on some of the 2011’s but that’s hearsay on my end. This truck definitely has no warranty or help.

This truck is a perfect candidate for the winch for sale or any Ford . Helps cut down on the wrecker bill.
