Air pressure in trailer tires is key. Don't run them under inflated.

Better just stay home. If you go, everything is gonna explode.
led,
Be sure to eat at Lazy Days at least once.. Hog Fish with Key Lime Butter...take the kids to Robbie's for breakfast and feed the tarpon. We always get a Lobster Frittata..
I'm ready for a trip down there soon..

Just Damn.
Don't forget the tuna nachos.
In relation to Plantation Key are there trout and reds inshore or are they further north near the mainland? There is a lot of backcountry water there close.
Did you get your boat umbrella thing yet? Pics? Review?
Don't think I have ever caught a trout in the Keys. they may be there , just never tried.
Too many other species to target. Reds are up in FL bay towards Flamingo. We always focus on Tarpon, Permit, Snook and Bonefish. If you want to catch eaters, there are plenty of tasty snapper or Hogfish..

I called the guy we fish with the most to set up our July days and asked..
He told me there are plenty of trout to catch.... but not many people want to fish for them.. LOL!!!
Gulp shrimp and light popping rigs.

If I'm in the Keys, I ain't fishing for trout. Don't really prefer them for table fare - especially when there are way better fish to eat down there.. Just personal preference.

If I'm towing a boat all the way to the Keys, I'm not spending time chasing fish I can catch 10 minutes from any boat ramp on the SC coast (read as: showing my jealousy through being condescending). Wear 'em out down there.
Kinda my thoughts - just not as succinctly stated..
I'd much rather chow down on a pile of fried Mangrove Snapper or Yellowtail.. Or Hogfish... baked with some seasoned breadcrumbs and key lime butter on it..

Yes. Any bottom with rocks or coral should hold some. The big ones are in deeper water. We always chum them up with Chopped menhaden - any tackle store should have some. Bridges are a good place to try.
When you get to Key Largo, stop at the Key Largo Conch house for supper and a piece of dat 7 layer Key Lime Coconut cake... Always starts the trip on a fine note.
