    Default Traeger grills....

So I have about $300 worth of Ace Hardware gift cards and was thinking of picking up a Traeger grill. However, most of the reviews I read online all say the same thing... That they are not holding their heat and issues revolve around the thermostat I guess? Those of you with one have an opinion?

I love my treager after a few simple mods.

Fire brick in the bottom, changing the P settings, and adding adjustable exhaust.

It’s a pellet grill. Don’t expect it to be a green egg and you’ll be fine.

You aren’t going to get one at ace I don’t think but if you want a pellet grill worth it’s weight look at Rec Tec bull

RecTec is where it's at. Had mine about 2 weeks and use it about every other day. Cooked a meat loaf in it two days ago and WOW that things was good!

They each have their purpose. His complaint is about holding heat so yes the egg is better.

Pellet grills are for people that don't have sense enough to use regular grills and/or smokers.......

pellet grills are for yankees that cant regulate temperature with a daisy wheel and flue.

I cant see cooking with what looks like rabbit food......or waste.

$300 in gift cards will get you an egg for $600

Their infomercials are silly as shit. I wouldn't buy one just because of the flannel wearing yankee that was talking about smoking amberjack.

I had one gifted to me. It did it's job. It's not a grill it's a smoker, but I felt like a vagina every time I pushed the button to turn it on. I basically gave it away just because it was sitting around taking up space, and I didn't care to use it.

I think the eggs have their place, and I agree with that. I mean if you get all the nerdy setting things in it I guess you could fit more. I've got a large, and it does well with just my family. My barrel grill at the lake house is still my favorite. It's not the greatest for holding heat, but for all around stuff is the best. It's just not pretty at all, that son of a b**** is a moped.
