    Default Barrelcool Fan

Has anyone used these? Had someone who knows what they're talking about recommend it. Would like to know if it actually helps. After my barrels get hot I definitely see groups start to open up a little.

I have one I use for load dev.

Works great for that. It knocks some time off barrel cooling. More than welcome to try it.

I like the idea. I leave my gun open chambered and pointing upward to use the chimney effect to let it cool somewhat quicker. I'd rather leave my gun in the rest than propping it against the bench. I've used the air hose from the compressor but a fan would really be the ticket. I wish it used something cheaper and easier to obtain than CR123 batteries.

Alcohol cools from the outside so you don't really know how cool the bore is. This cools from the inside. When the outside is cool, you'd know the bore is too.

Great. I needed another battery powered gadget to buy and tote around.

I used Bstick’s and it seemed to work great. We used it in my 300 with the pencil barrel.

I may end up buying one myself, just what I need more stuff..,..

That’s what’s hanging out the chamber

I’ve seen them used at prs type matches. One time 2 guys were shooting the same rifle and they used one of these to cool the barrel in between. Works pretty well from what I’ve seen.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

I've got a carbon barrel and it gets hot too. How hot can you get a carbon barrel before it starts damaging it?

Amazon 12 pack is the ticket here. Can get them for around $1.50 this way.

Barrel is still steel, just carbon wrapped. Throat doesn’t last any longer, barrel is just stiffer with less weight. Not sure you could get it hot enough to delaminate.

I can get select proofs and Hardys at a decent price. A good quality fluted barrel blank is $550. So for $150 (sometimes less than that) more you can have a carbon barrel.

What FLS said is entirely true about barrel life.

Carbon barrels get hot just as fast as steel barrels but they cool way way faster and generally speaking have less POI shift.
