I've been seeing more and more. Have at least one pair nesting. I've been keeping some food in the dove field, and there were 5 out there Sunday. Do y'all see them much? Anybody eaten any?

They have been around the canal dove fields for years. They are always at our lake house at cross and have been regulars for the last 10 years.
They eat just fine.
There are a few around Lexington. When I see them, they are always in the same place. I mean, within a couple hundred yards diameter circle. They seem to have a very small range and sort of establish "micro colonies" or something. I have seen a group regularly a a quarter mile from the house, and have only had them in my yard once. And I feed a lot of birds.

I killed a couple two years ago...eat great. There are a gajillion in Wyoming with no season and no limits. Looking forward to that!
“I can’t wait ‘till I’m grown” is the stupidest @!#* I ever said!
I kill a good many each season. Tastes like a dove.
They are territorial and will respond to calls aggressively.

I killed a couple last year for the first time in several years. Maybe 5 or 6 years back we had a decent amount of them, had a run of them for a couple years.
They respond to a rexcraft bugle as well. I give em short bursts of hooo oooo. They can't resist
I wasn't joking. Have you ever called and had them try to land on your head? I have. Not that hard to do. Very distinctive call and easy to make.

Pretty sure numbers are dwendling due to burning in FMNF.
If I could find a gently used rexcraft I would maul the feathery bastards. Maul.
