Are those ones that look like dark red sheepshead actually oscars?

When I worked at the shipyard, there was a fish tank in an office with two oscars in it. We'd bring in crickets to feed them. They absolutely could not resist eating a cricket. They'd never get too full to stop eating them. You could see a cricket in their throat and they'd be pooping whole crickets.

I went in early April. Catch until you don’t want to catch anymore or until you don’t want to clean them or you don’t want to pay someone to clean them.

I went down this past March as well.
Lucked up and timed the crappie spawn at Roland Martin perfectly.

Spent a day in Glades and caught oscars and cichlids til my shoulder hurt.

Thank the Lord for the Cuban fish Cleaning family in Clewiston.

It’s a blast. Spent 2 days in the Everglades fishing and then the last day fishing on lake okeechobee.

Yes they're very good. They provide a pretty little white filet. Not so good when scaled like a bream or cooked with skin on. The skin is real dark and bitter.

In all those years it never crossed your mind to keep a pair of pliers on the boat?

Put 100+ in the cooler and never got a drop of slime on me.

Swing em in the boat, open the cooler, lay fish in the cooler, grab the hook with pliers and shake the fish off.

I used to have an Oscar named Beauregard. That sumbitch had a full life of snapping fingers.
